Tara Polar Station: A Precision-Driven Collaboration Between MAURIC, CMN, and SSI
Following its first summer drift test, and ahead of its next Arctic expedition this winter, the Tara Polar Station—developed by the Tara Ocean Foundation—is currently stationed in Iceland. This strategic stop precedes its participation in the annual Arctic Circle conference, a key international event focused on the future of the Arctic.
Mer et Marine recently published an in-depth article retracing the origins of this one-of-a-kind scientific vessel, designed by naval architect Olivier Petit. The station’s engineering was entrusted to MAURIC, while its construction was carried out by CMN – Constructions Mécaniques de Normandie in Cherbourg.
This highly complex and collaborative project was made possible thanks to the use of SSI’s advanced shipbuilding software (ShipConstructor & ShipbuildingPLM), distributed in France by NDAR.
