Optimizing the Full System
In the large propeller commercial world, tasks are generally segregated between system performance analysis (the naval architect), to the detail propeller design (a specialist), to geometric modeling for manufacture (the propeller builder). In the thruster world where drives are of modest size, it is common that a company designer takes over multiple responsibilities.
For the propeller design process, it is our position that everything is a system problem first – which is the role of NavCad. You can have a great motor design and a great propeller, but if they do not play well together you have a poorly functioning system. Put another way, a properly designed and well-matched system with good motor and propeller will always be more successful than an exceptional motor and propeller that are poorly matched.
