Penguin™ for AutoCAD Shipping
Non-photorealistic rendering for Rhino and AutoCAD

March 2004

Barcelona, SPAIN — March 25, 2003 — McNeel announced that Penguin, non-photorealistic rendering for AutoCAD, is shipping. The suggested retail price is US$/€195. Special educational pricing is available for schools, students, and faculty.

“Penguin brings a new clarity to early design communications,” explains Fran Montero, Penguin product manager. “Now designers can accurately communicate ideas and concepts without a finished model and without adding details that are not relevant early in the design process.”

Introductory Offer

As a special introductory promotion, AutoCAD users who purchase and register Penguin before June 1, 2004 will receive a discount coupon for €150 off ModelCAD 3,500 high-quality AutoCAD blocks for architects, contractors, and interior designers.

Sketch and cartoon style rendering

Sketch-style rendering simulates pencil, ink, chalk, pen, marker, and watercolor. There are configurable parameters for wavy or straight lines and control over line width, intensity, and color. Texture fills can simulate pencil sketches or watercolor. Users also can define their own texture fill styles.

Cartoon-style rendering has three shading levels (highlight, base, and shadow) with sharp transitions. Silhouette, border, and crease edges can also be rendered.

Users can also select a background image and control antialiasing.

Penguin is available from more than 500 Rhino resellers worldwide. Penguin's suggested retail price is US$/€195. Educational pricing is available for schools, students, and faculty.
English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Czech language versions are included.
