MAESTRO Academic Conference (MAC11)
28 May 2011
Hello again and thank you to those who have expressed interest in the 2011 MAESTRO Academic Conference (MAC11). We are emailing to update you on a few details for the conference. For those who have not responded, these details will give you more insight into what will occur and who will be attending. As stated before, the intent of the conference is to share ideas and approaches to using MAESTRO in your curriculum as well as provide a “no cost” introductory MAESTRO training course.
MAC11 will be held on August 10th - 12th, 2011, at or nearby our offices in Stevensville, Maryland (100km east of Washington D.C.).
The first two days of the conference will be dedicated to an introductory training course that will cover the MAESTRO fundamentals as they relate to the general finite element analysis process and ship structural design as well as an introduction to new features that have been introduced over the past year. The training course will benefit not only the new MAESTRO user, but also the MAESTRO veteran. The last day of the MAC11 will consist of presentations by educational institutions currently using MAESTRO in their curriculum, as well as round table discussions. The following educational institutions have confirmed that they plan to attend and make a presentation: Virginia Tech, United States Coast Guard Academy, University of Michigan, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Also attending will be subject matter experts from the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD).
The MAC11 will be held either at our DRS Defense Solutions office in Stevensville, MD, USA or a local conference space depending on the number of attendees. Directions to our office and lodging details are attached to this email. Our offices are located a short distance from Annapolis, Maryland, which has many hotel options.
If you are an educator or researcher teaching ship structures, this is a great way to learn how others are incorporating MAESTRO into their curriculum, to better prepare their students for current design and analysis practices.
Remember, our MAESTRO University Policy:
. provides the MAESTRO software to universities at no charge,
. includes a 25-user network license (for labs) and a single-user license (for professor),
. and waives the Annual Maintenance and Support fee (M&S) for those attending MAC11.
Please let me know if you need assistance with finding accommodations or local travel (also see attached general information on location and local hotels)
We will be sending out future emails with additional details when it gets closer to the conference.
We thank you for your consideration and interest.
